What’s Included in The Villages Eye Exams
First, we test how clearly you see. Then we check the health of your eyes, and afterward you can choose glasses if you need them.
Vision testing
We test distance and near vision, and we update your prescription if your vision has changed.
Eye health check
We also look inside and outside your eyes for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
Coordination and focusing
We also test how well your eyes work together when they change focus between near and far.
Glasses the same visit
After your exam, you can choose frames, and many are made in our on-site lab in as little as one hour.

How often should The Villages residents have an eye exam?
Adults over 40 are generally advised to have an eye exam every one to two years. Adults over 65 should have one every year. However, people who wear glasses or contacts should have one annually. Your optometrist can also tell you what is right for you, so ask at your next visit.
Do you accept vision insurance?
Yes. We accept many vision plans, including Aetna, Florida Blue, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Humana and Medicare. However, coverage differs by plan, so please call us at (352) 259-1621 before your visit. Then we will check your benefits and explain what to expect.
Do I need an appointment?
We recommend an appointment, because it gives you timely, personal care and a short wait. You can request an appointment online at any time. You can also call us Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Either way, our team will confirm a time that works for you.
